Have an HP Pavilion ze2000 laptop purchased around ‘05 during walmart blitz for 0. It’s VERY SLOW and out of date:
Mobile AMD Sempron Processor 2800+
1.59 GHZ, 224 MB RAM
37.2GB hard drive capacity with 20.3GB free.
Windows XP ‘02 SP3.
(can give more info if needed)

I do photography on the side and use photoshop alot. I’m also online daiIy so need a faster computer. I can’t use both photoshop and internet or one will lock up. It takes forever just to edit one photo since my computer is so slow. Yes I’ve kept up maintenance and removed unused programs. Just Needing to know what to look for. Sofar I’ve been looking at a dell that has 4 GB RAM, 320 GB hard drive.Want a new laptop that will LAST me as long as possible but be fast enough to multitask. Screen size and weight doesnt really matter, but would like battery to last atleast an hour, CD/DVD reader and burner (you know atleast the basic extras). Don’t mind to spend IF it will last me longer than this one without being overpriced for it’s features.
Processor (Intel or AMD)?
Memory Size?
Hard Drive Size?
XP or Vista?
HP, Dell, Apple, Toshiba, Gateway, Acer?
Anything else that will help?

I would have to make this cd by myself when I on it first time but I did not it that time can I make window back up cd now there is alos a recovery disk creation option will i have to use this option and I asked same question with hp helper and they replied me…….as I would request you to reinstall the windows either through recovery partition if recovery partition has been shipped with the Notebook by performing the below mention workaround.

1. Press the power button to turn on the PC, and press F11 on the keyboard immediately while the computer is starting up. The HP Backup and Recovery Manager window will appear.

2. Click advanced options, select the System recovery option, and then click next.

3. If the Recovery Solution can access the hard drive it displays a prompt to backup up user files before continuing the recovery. You may either backup your files, or skip the backup and recover the operating system.

4. If the Recovery Solution cannot access the hard drive to fix the system errors, use the set of Recovery disks that you created to recover the hard drive to its original condition.

Note: – Personal data and software you have installed on the notebook will be lost during the OS reinstall. HP recommends that you make a backup copy of all personal data before beginning this process. HP is not responsible for any data loss.

Regarding dual boot operating system I would also need to inform you that HP does not recommend dual boot of operating system.

but I m still confused I m not that clear is anybody know and has done this thing so plz guide me step by step easily plz i will be ve

When I close my laptop, it automatically shuts down / disconnects from WiFi.

I need to close the laptop lid and have the hard drive and WiFi stay *on*…. because I’m using an external keyboard and external monitor…. so there’s no need to keep the laptop lid open.

In Control Panel > Performance and Maintenance > Power Options…. I changed all the options to "never" but it still shuts off when I close the lid.

I’m running xp pro w/ a compaq v5000… checked the manual, can’t find anything.

20 Reasons Why I Need a Macbook Pro

1.Macs are more reliable. In the past 8 months my computer has had to have the Os re-installed 4 times, 3 for hard drive problems and 1 for a virus. Mac’s are very reliable machines according to consumer reports, and multiple reviews online such as C-net, Notebook reviews, Consumer reports, ECT. Mark the Mac book pro as a very good Computer, better than a PC.
2.Macs Run windows to! On a Macbook Pro I Can Run Windows as well as Mac OS X through Boot Camp. So in way I will get the best of both worlds I can run Mac OS X for internet and video editing and music editing, then I can run Windows Vista for Games, Office, and Windows Exclusive programs I might need.
3.I Know How to Use Macs. I can use a Mac much better than a PC. I was taught how to use them in elementary school. Right down to how to use all of the Mac office programs.
4.No Viruses! On Macs there are no viruses, which means that I can /surf the web with confidence my computer is safe.
5.If my Mac breaks no problem! With Apple care I can call Apple and my problem is fixed either by an apple expert helping me through it our by sending my computer to apple. Were as with a PC if it breaks Basically your screwed, first you have to find the problem, then call support then figure out how to fix it, then try do to do all of the things that you have no clue on how to do. No no no no with a Mac I call apple and since Macs are so simple with a description of my problem I have an answer.
6.A Mac Will Help Me in School. Last year I had 12 late or missing essays and research assignments because my computer was broken. On a Mac if it breaks I just send it to apple and in a few days I get a new computer for free. But it takes weeks to fix a PC.
7.They Last Forever!!!!!! On a Mac the Requirements to run software are very slim, the average life of a Mac is about 5 years compared to the 2 year life of a PC.
8.I can Use a Mac for Everything!!! Since Macs run Windows and Mac OS X there is no such thing as incompatible software.
9.You May Say at This Point “I am Convinced you need a Mac, But why a Macbook pro?” Well a Macbook pro is a notebook, which means I can use it anywhere. For example what if I have a huge report I have to do over the weekend but we are going to grandmas house, well I could take my Macbook pro and I could work on a report, and study for a test with a preloaded study guide.
10.I will get A’s on my report Card. With a Mac there are no viruses and they are notably reliable so there is no excuse of my computer had a virus, or the “it was broken” excuse. A Macbook pro will help me excel in school and in extra activities I do such as movie making and video games and there is guitar learning software.
11.Since I will be using the computer I should get the computer I want to use. What you guys have to remember is that the next computer I’m going to get will be my computer, so in that case I should get the computer that I want to use, not the one that you want me to use.
12.If I get the Macbook pro I will have enough space on my desk to do other things. Such as homework, or work. Right now my desk is too crowded with CRT monitors to do work; well a laptop would take care of that.
13.There is a brand new update. An update came out on June 5th which means that I will get the most advanced technology now.
14.A Macbook pro is the most powerful notebook and most powerful Mac other than the Mac pro.
15.I have two lives. If I came home from school one day and I found my computer broken my dell, I would have to wait for dad to fix it. But with a Mac I can run Windows and OS X so if OS X dies I can use windows because it uses a separate portion of the hard drive, and vise versa.
16.Apple is the only company that makes the software and the hardware. On a Mac the software is made to use all of the advantages of the hardware. Were as on a PC the software is made to be used on 100 companies computers
17.All the programs I use and want to use are on Mac. I use iTunes and that’s a program designed for Mac. I cant use iMovie, or Logic.
18.A new OS is about to be released. Leopard is about to be released, with many more features than tiger.
19.I can use .mac. .mac is a net based e-mail and web page publisher and internet storage. With many other features.
20.Macs just work. Macs are so simple a caveman can use them, they work so well, and they are so easy to use that you can use it to learn languages, or to learn how to play an instrument. They just work, were as with a PC needs to have lessons to learn how to use it.

With a Macbook pro I can just do everything and have everything work. Reasons 1-20 are the reasons I need a Macbook pro.
oh yeah and btw im not asking people about the classic mac or windows im asking if my list is good, dont answer if your gonna say something such as "buy a pc instead"

Just bought a new gateway MD7818u notebook, can anyone help me understand use, technology is not my thing, thought it looked easy to use, but no reference guide, to find in hard drive and I can’t find, can not find anything in gateway on line, I don’t understand how to use the illuminated media controls and no WIFI switch that I can find to turn on or off, I know these are dumb questions, but I really do need help, I’m using my old desktop still as not on line with this new laptop, it also tells me I have lost windows help and support and don’t know how to get it back, would very much appreciate any help!

Is it true that laptops are always slower and less responsive than a comparable desktop with the same amount of memory and graphics? I have a 6 month old HP Pavilion laptop ZV6233nr with an "AMD athlon 64 processor, (2.0 GHz, 512kb 1.2 cache) 100 gig hard drive with DVD + R/RW and CD-RW combo drive with double layer support". It also says something about ATI 200 series video driver. My husband plays "military games" with helicopters/airplanes, and also racing games. Should this computer be ok for this? If not, who makes a good system for game play?

My toughbook did not come with a hard drive. In searching for one I find lot’s of hits but Im not sure if they are going to be compatable with it.
I’ve seen Western digital has some for under 100.00 ide, 9.5mm 20GB(that’s all i need anyways)
But Im not sure if these are compatible. I went to Panasonic and they want over 450 dollars for an 80 GB!!
I’d hate to have this laptop and not use it ever b/c I can’t do 450.00!
Thanks for any input.

Will this notebook last me four years of college? Do Dell notebooks usually have a lot of problems? How is the support? Any personal experience with this computer? Any reviews of it that you have found to be helpful? Has this notebook been getting good reviews? Anything you can tell me would be really helpful. Is there a better laptop with comparable specs and price out there that I should know about? Any online coupons you can find me? Thanks! A best answer will be chosen.

I will soon be in a job where I commute half the week home half the week, and want to buy a powerful but affordable portable computer. I don't even know the diff between a laptop and a notebook. Whichever is most portable with an adult sized keyboard and a nice screen. Any suggestions? This is for leisure use. I would like to use it for DVD, mp3, and small games (less than 100MB programs stored in the hard drive running out of RealArcade, etc). Hoping to spend less than 1000 USD.

Related is an internet question. I would like access from the new computer whether I'm home or away. I know a little about wi-fi but I think this depends on nearby signal. Since my job and home are 70 miles apart, and the job is in a rural area, wi-fi is unlikely. So can you get internet piped into a portable computer in an out of the way location? How much does this service cost, and who provides such a service? I guess it would be comparable to "roaming" on a cell phone.

Thanks for any help!
Sorry, need to clarify. My home computer is tied to my telephone service, a landline. It is up for now, but I have a cell phone and could easily shut it off if I didn't need either. I won't be home enough to justify paying for both portable and home-based internet and phone.

And I am looking for high speed internet…
