laptop maintenance. Slow laptop?
I have Dell Inspiron 6000 (it’s about 2 years old) – running very very UNBEARABLY slow. I deleted every possible thing I could (I had tons of photo & video files), compressed the drive, uninstalled unnecessary thing, trashed applications I do not use. Still, very slow and inefficient.
- I have no idea of how to MAINTAIN the laptop
- But at this point I need the advice on how to recover the machine.
take it to Geek Squad / Best Buy / and the like?
Is there a cheaper way to mend the situation?

defrag won’t run.
"services" on the control panel won’t run.
IE won’t update (I have a need to use it and the application requires at least 6.0 – well, I tried zillion times, I cannot install updated version of IE – seems like my file registry is missing ie.inf file)
