this question refers back to my question about rugged pc being so bulky. Can they make them less bulky.
Rugged Laptops Archives
looking for a rugged laptop, 60gig dvd/cd 15inch.
All I find these days are 41 degree hard drives, I will be working outside in sub-zero weather with a toughbook CF-28. It takes a PATA 44-PIN interface.
Thanks in advance.
I’m looking for tips that you wouldn’t see on every cleaning or homemaking article.
Here are some of mine:
I use rubber bands to keep hangers from getting tangled up.
I set the timer and empty the lint trap on the dryer before I fold and stack my clothes on top, that way I can just throw the next load in and press start. Then, I can load the washer, put the clean clothes in my basket, and be off.
Since I often try to multitask, I end up eating while I am working on the computer, so I wrapped plastic wrap over the keyboard to keep the crumbs out.
I also line the shelves in the fridge with plastic wrap for easy cleanup of unknown gooey spills.
We were constantly getting clogged drains in the tubs, I guess bathing 7 dogs regularly will do that. But, the conventional drain hair trap will not work for us because of the plug’s design. So, I took a piece of screen (not the metal kind) and draped it over the plug and attached it with waterproof tape. No more clogs! I’m sure this would be good for drain’s that have a tendency to eat things, like wedding bands and toothpaste caps.
Last tidbit, I hung the shower caddy on the opposite side of the shower head using a hook for hanging baskets. I hated how cluttered one side of the shower looked, while the other was bare, and also hitting my head on it after turning the water off.
Thanks for your tip(s)!
I am stuck between the G zOne Boulder and the EnV2.
-The Boulder is "rugged" – it is waterproof, dust resistant, has compass, etc.
-The EnV2 is sleek – It has a full QWERTY keyboard and music playback
So I am split between the two. I txt regularly, but not a text freak. I do a lot of outside stuff too though, so the boulder would sometimes be more helpful, but I also like music to listen to (got a mp3 player, but yeah).
Any advice, tips, defenses for phones, or just persuasion, let me know please!!!

I am wanting to get a fully rugged computer with a webcam for my soon to be husband. He will be going to Afgan this September and I thought it would be a wonderful wedding present. That way he will be able to stay in touch with our daughter and I. Unfortuantely I don’t have any extreme amount of funds. All laptops that I have seen our 3,000 + dollars.. Thanks in advance for all the help!
I have heard that even if a cup of water was spilt on the keyboard nothing serious would happen!
is it true?
Is it because their build quality is top notch?
And is it because that their laptops are designed to be rugged even though they are not advertised as rugged laptops?
(as per toshiba product reviews ive read)
Does it usually mean toshiba = durability?
(as per toshiba product reviews ive read)
Whats exceptional about toshiba products that would make it worth the extra buck?
which helps to keep the keyboard clean; is almost waterproof; oilproof etc; cheap but tikaau
I am headed to Honduras in the Peace Corps and need a good durable notebook to take with me. I can’t spend more than maybe ,500 but I need it to be pretty durable since I will be leaving it there (I will donate it to a school or organization at the end of my service). I don’t want it to poop out on me, or especially them! Should I go semi-rugged or fully rugged on the laptop? Any suggestions?
I need a cheap (under 3000 USD) water resistant portable computer. Does anyone know where I could get one?
I’ve heard that you can actually wash them since the components are encased in waterproofed plastic but I’m not sure it that’s a myth or not.

Manufacturing sector. Needs to run multiple SAP screens. Will probably be dropped at one point or another. Lightweight because our facility is large and I walk back and forth all day in 1/4 mile segments. Help please. Thank you so much!
Recommend laptop or Tablet PC? I don’t know if there will be a surface to set the computer on.
I wanted to have them purchased by this afternoon, but I think I ‘m going to have to make next Friday the deadline.

That is the link to the SAP page, it’s how we do everything for all our facilities worldwide.
I used a tablet that was 4 pounds for a week and, while it was ok, it got pretty hot and I found that the "keyboard" screen didn’t track the pen as well as I would have liked, but it was very rugged. A few of the technicians here wouldn’t even carry it around because they said it was too heavy (to which I replied, then you obviously don’t need it badly enough—but I did, so I carried it all week and it wasn’t too bad).
I accidentally found a waterproof keyboard on http://www.madeinchina.com/2793178/P6024059/Silicone-Keyboard.shtml. But I’m not sure whether it’s true or not. I’ve never heard about "waterproof keyboard" before but if it’s true, it should be very convenient to use! Does anybody know this kind of keyboard?
