I just bought my new Laptop HP Pavilion with the following specs.

2.2 Intel Dual Core2
2 GB DDR2 memory
250GB Hardisk
128MB -nVidia Gforce 8400
Vista Home Premium

This was the advice of my friends with the budget i have.

Now my question to the laptop experts because i am a new laptop user.

1. What else i need to know in my new laptop?
2. Laptop user maintenance strategy?
3. Security?
4. Hardware care?
5. General tips and advice

I am sure you have encountered some problems in using laptop maybe you can inform me so that i amy able to avoid it if not i have an idea to solve it.

I love the computer, but I wish the sound output was a little better.

I have a TV, an Ipod, and the Toughbook running into a Bose Wave Radio, and then I have a Creative 2.1 system running out of that for some added sound. The TV and Ipod sound perfectly clear. The Toughbook has a bit lower volume and has some hissing/buzzing in the background that increases with increased volume. I just assumed the machine was essentially made for fighting fires and guiding missiles, so they didn’t equip it with a good sound card. I think my brother uses some card that plugs into his USB. That would be ideal, since I have a Firewire card taking up the PCI slot. I’ve also checked the cables and run a monster cable to the Bose, so that’s not the problem. Thanks for the help.

Last night I made another step into becoming a modern adult and bought my first laptop computer. I’m having a blast with it, but I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on what else I can do with it, other than basic internet/email use and such. I need better suggestions regarding buying laptop or desktop that should be compatible and durable enough for designing and developing websites, either dynamic or static, as well as run other heavy processing tasks, easily install and run different xp professional components.
Because some says its easy to repair parts of desktop but others saying that laptop is easy to carry and handle and can be used for heavy data and processing and nowadays it doesnt cost much for maintenance.
It is much better, if add the brand name of laptop or desktop the one you preferred.

I recently have bought new Sony Vaio laptop notebook of 1.60 Dual Core of 1GB Ram and 120 G hard disk with window vista home premium edition, but it is very slow than even in 1 GB memory. I also don’t need a lot of junk program of window vista, game and media stuff. I removed many programs , and yet it is not that faster. Instead of upgrading into 2 GB Ram, I want to install XP home or professional. User guide shows in the Help and support that I have to reformat to older version of operating system of XP.
I am no expert. Anyone out there who knows how to do it by myself instead of going to repair shop?

have a laptop which I have some info on. I wanted to sell it so I lent it to a friend who use to come over to use my desktop to check e-mails. He offered to pay latter or give it back. I’ve helped the friend out before so I thought nothing of it. When you turn the laptop on you have to enter a password to continue using it. I gave friend this also. He use to call more than usual to learn how to operate laptop. Then, his cell number got changed. I called his residence and everybody but him answers the phone to say he’s not there. Someone finally said that he moved away:o( He won’t answer his e-mails that I send and I’m thinking about a court of law. but until then, is it possible to control my laptop from another computer so as to change the access password to ensure a callback from him??? If I need to I’m sure I can obtain all my information that I don’t have already from the company i bought it from. The laptop is a panasonic toughbook pc and runs on windows 98.

Is it true that laptops are always slower and less responsive than a comparable desktop with the same amount of memory and graphics? I have a 6 month old HP Pavilion laptop ZV6233nr with an "AMD athlon 64 processor, (2.0 GHz, 512kb 1.2 cache) 100 gig hard drive with DVD + R/RW and CD-RW combo drive with double layer support". It also says something about ATI 200 series video driver. My husband plays "military games" with helicopters/airplanes, and also racing games. Should this computer be ok for this? If not, who makes a good system for game play?

so before i get one i just want to know about maintenance what should i do to keep the fan clean and from never overheating. also when it does over heat your computer shuts down right?? im just wondering if it still does damage or does the laptop shut down before any thing is damaged or is there a risk

I have a military laptop and they have disabled my wifi capabilities so i have to plug my laptop directly in to a router or modem. But i need to access the internet around my house. I have a old router in the garage can i connect the to routers wirelessly so that i can plug my Ethernet cable into either of them.

hello i am in desperate need of fixing my sager brand laptop. it isnt exactly broken, but it could be. within 20 minutes of using it, the left side gets extremely hot(the video card i believe). is there any guide to cleaning my laptop? i believe the problem may be dust gathering.

i paid 1500 dollars and bought this a year ago. it runs games better than my desktop, but overheats like crazy. i cant trade it in and i wont sell it for a few hundred dollars less. i need to clean it up and get the dust out.
